Jesus died on the cross for our sins. On the third day he arose from the dead. His death and resurrection freed us from eternal punishment for our sins; but only for those who trust and believe in Him and "repent" of their sins ("regret their sins and turn toward God and away from evil"). The word of God is alive. It is continually active and sharper than any double-edged blade. It cuts us to the quick and judges the desires and thoughts of our hearts. We can't hide anything from God! He sees it all! So why not start living our lives with that knowledge and belief, so that we may be more righteous in His sight.
